Logistics and accommodation

To plan your arrival and departure times it may be useful to note that there will be an icebreaker on the evening of Sunday November 8 and talks will start at 8am on Monday 9 November. On Friday 13 November the conference will conclude at 5:30pm. We will provide further detail on the program over the coming weeks but please email us if there is anything you need to know now to plan your travel.

The conference dinner will be on Thursday night and held at Grainery Lane in Ballarat, which is in the centre of town and walking distance from the conference venue. Grainery Lane has a cool vibe and they make their own gin! We will be announcing the winners of the SGSTG medals at the conference dinner.

There are lots of accommodation options in Ballarat at a variety of price points. Quest Ballarat Station is literally next door to the conference venue and we will have a discount code for SGTSG attendees that we will post here once it becomes available. Getting public transport to Ballarat from Melbourne is relatively easy - Ballarat is on the myki system so will only cost about $10 on the VLine train from Melbourne, which departs from Southern Cross Station. If you are flying into Melbourne you can catch the Skybus from the airport to Southern Cross Station. The conference, dinner and other social events will all be walking distance from each other so there will be no need for a car once you are in Ballarat if your accommodation is central.
